C M Sharma, Managing Partner of the firm and founder of CHM Ventures LLP has significant experience in building startups, turning around distressed companies by increasing margins through efficiency improvement, controlling and re-engineering costs and conducting successful M&A transactions across the globe. He held various Board and leadership positions in past.
CM was Global CFO at Aegis where he worked for over 11 years and was responsible for global M&A, corporate finance, strategy, unit operations, business planning, investor relations, cross-border taxation, transfer pricing, legal and secretarial functions. At Aegis, CM was a key member of the Core Team who engineered a spectacular growth story interwoven with organic and inorganic wins. From less than $60 million revenues in 2005 and loss making, Aegis became a profitable about US$ 1 billion revenue company in about six years. CM was instrumental in Aegis completing over 15 successful acquisitions in a short span of 5 years, resulting in
larger than expected returns. CM also led a sale transaction successfully to unlock value of part Aegis by selling its U.S., Philippines and Costa Rica businesses in July 2014 at $610 mn to a leading strategic global player based in U.S., giving over 20x return to shareholders in about 9 years.
Prior to joining Aegis, CM was the CFO of Colwell & Salmon, a BPO company with operations in New York State and NCR Delhi. He has also worked with GHCL Ltd., a public company producing soda ash and manufacturing textile in India.
CM has raised nearly Billion Dollars of debt financing across several rounds in the U.S., Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia and India to support organic and inorganic growth initiatives.
Additional projects include –
- Developing several standard templates for performance improvements, costs reductions and profitability improvement. The methodology is based on benchmarking, standard activity and step by step business process time study.
- Created several trackers to monitor performance and profitability on a periodic basis that could be daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.
- Established greenfield BPO/Tech centers in U.S., U.K., India, Philippines, South Africa, Malaysia, Australia and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- Successfully acquired and integrated over 15 BPO and Tech companies across 10 countries, namely, U.S., Costa Rica, Argentina, South Africa, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
- Negotiated significant cost reductions from IT and other vendors by adopting zero based budgeting.
- Instrumental in creating global command center to monitor performance of over 55 global BPO sites.
- Set up a world class Global Shared Services Center to take care of accounting work (namely, AR, AP, FA, Cash & Bank, GL, FP&A and FRC), Tax, Spend Management and IT for all legal entities global.
- Profitability management of a BPO business in Philippines and U.S. with about 23,000 FTE’s.
CM is a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Delhi and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He has also completed Leadership Development Program of Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, India and is also certified in High Performance Management Techniques (HPMT) from COPC Inc., U.S.
CM has won various awards and accolades for his exceptional performance and achievements, few of them are:
